operator, is introducing its latest memory care program, <i>Connections.<\/i><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><i>Connections<\/i> focuses on a person-centered, evidence-based approach to dementia care based on powerful relevant studies and proven data in the world of dementia care and services. The goal is to increase functioning, both cognitive and physical, through effective techniques.<\/p><p class=\"p1\">The therapeutic program will use these techniques with the goal to provide greater quality of life and an increased life expectancy for memory care residents. Pegasus memory care communities nationwide will unveil new programming, dining, and environmental methods for their residents throughout the next year.<\/p><p class=\"p1\">Pegasus will first test pilot the program in six communities, starting January 1, 2020:<\/p><ul class=\"ul1\"><li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pegasusseniorliving.com\/laketown-village\/\"><span class=\"s2\">Laketown Village<\/span><\/a><\/span> in Kenner, LA.<\/li><li class=\"li2\"><span class=\"s3\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pegasusseniorliving.com\/broadway-mesa-village\/\"><span class=\"s4\">Pegasus Landing of Mesa<\/span><\/a><\/span><span class=\"s5\"> in Mesa, AZ. <\/span><\/li><li class=\"li2\"><span class=\"s3\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pegasusseniorliving.com\/historic-roswell-place\/\"><span class=\"s4\">Historic Roswell Place<\/span><\/a><\/span><span class=\"s5\"> in Roswell, GA.<\/span><\/li><li class=\"li2\"><span class=\"s3\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pegasusseniorliving.com\/south-hill-village\/\"><span class=\"s4\">South Hill Village<\/span><\/a><\/span><span class=\"s5\"> in Spokane, WA<\/span><\/li><li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pegasusseniorliving.com\/castlewoods-place\/\"><span class=\"s2\">Castlewoods Place<\/span><\/a><\/span> in Brandon, MS<\/li><li class=\"li2\"><span class=\"s3\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pegasusseniorliving.com\/the-village-at-rancho-solano\/\"><span class=\"s4\">The Village at Rancho Solano<\/span><\/a><\/span><span class=\"s5\"> in Fairfield, CA<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p class=\"p1\"><b><i>Connections <\/i>Program Techniques<\/b><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><i>Connections<\/i> will reach memory care residents through proven concepts that elevate the mind, body, and spirit.<\/p><p class=\"p1\">MIND<\/p><ul class=\"ul1\"><li class=\"li1\">Neuroplasticity \u2013 a brain\u2019s ability to adapt rather than remain hard-wired and fixed. Connect, move and learn programs allow the brain to reorganize its connections. Programming will be heavy in creative subjects such as gardening, music, and visual arts. They will also involve interaction with children, pets, volunteering, social interactions and movement.<\/li><\/ul><p class=\"p1\">BODY<\/p><ul><li class=\"p3\">The MIND Diet \u2013 the Mediterranean Intervention for Neurodegenerative Delay diet has been proven to reduce the risk of dementia by 54 percent. The MIND Diet includes the 10 brain healthy food groups: green leafy vegetables, nuts, berries, whole grains, beans, fish, poultry, olive oil, wine and other vegetables. Pegasus memory care culinary teams will also cook with brain health powerhouses such as: dark chocolate, turmeric, kale, sweet potatoes, berries (strawberries, blueberries), garbanzo beans, walnuts, fish with omega 3, red wine and green tea.<\/li><\/ul><p class=\"p1\">SPIRIT<\/p><ul class=\"ul1\"><li class=\"li1\">SingFit \u2013 the award-winning, therapeutic music program with constant movement, speech and memory triggers. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.singfit.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SingFit<\/a> provides a musical experience that elevates the human spirit and promotes physical and cognitive health.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span><\/li><\/ul><p class=\"p1\">ENVIRONMENT<\/p><ul class=\"ul1\"><li class=\"li1\"><i>Connections<\/i>\u2019 environmental goal is to enable residents to achieve maximum independence, security, safety and dignity with a multi-sensory focus.
