Also known as the moderate stage, symptoms become more apparent to friends and family, and diagnosis is usually determined in this stage. People can live up to 20 years following diagnosis.<\/p><h2>What are the stages of Alzheimer\u2019s?<\/h2><ul><li>Preclinical Alzheimer&#8217;s disease<\/li><li>Early-stage: Mild<\/li><li>Middle-stage: Moderate<\/li><li>Late-stage: Severe<\/li><\/ul><h3>Preclinical<\/h3><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nia.nih.gov\/health\/alzheimers-causes-and-risk-factors\/what-happens-brain-alzheimers-disease\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Amyloid<\/a>, the abnormal protein known to cause Alzheimer\u2019s, can begin setting into the brain decades before noticeable effects.
