Seniors at The Legacy at Cimarron are becoming friends with the residents of a local ranch: a horse and donkey. Following a joyful first meeting that brought smiles, stories, and shared memories, the equine duo were well welcomed and loved during the most recent session.
For many, it was more than a fun afternoon — it was a moment of connection. Some recalled childhoods spent around animals, while others simply enjoyed the calm presence of their new friends.
“This experience taps into something deeply emotional and healing,” said Jacob Boggs, Executive Director at The Legacy at Cimarron. “Our residents light up when they see these animals.”
The unique sessions are hosted by KNJ Therapeutic Riding, a local organization bringing equine-assisted experiences to individuals of all ages across the region.
“Our mission is to create meaningful moments,” said Lenora Southerland, Program Director of KNJ Therapeutic Riding. “Seeing their eyes light up, hearing their laughter — that’s why we do this. We’re thrilled to have the residents of The Legacy at Cimarron return!”
The Pegasus Senior Living community is committed to providing unique and enriching experiences that foster connection and engagement. Events like these are part of their ongoing effort to help residents thrive physically, mentally, and emotionally.
The residents of The Legacy at Cimarron were met with an extra surprise during their visit — coverage from two local news stations: KVIA and Telemundo El Paso.
