Seniors Complete Six-Week Beer Brewing Project at The Legacy at Long Meadow

Residents Brewed “Legacy Beer” at The Legacy at Long Meadow
Residents at The Legacy at Long Meadow recently completed a six-week beer brewing project, bottling their homemade “Legacy Beer.”

We are so proud of Lily, Susan, and Guy for their patience and teamwork over the six weeks they spent together. At The Legacy at Long Meadow, these three residents took on the challenge of brewing beer from scratch, carefully following each step and enjoying the process together until it was finally time to bottle their creations.

With a Craft and Brew kit, Lily, Susan, and Guy measured ingredients, watched video instructions, and checked on their brew each week. What began as a fun experiment soon became a special routine, and every session brought them closer together. When it was time to bottle the beer, they proudly named it Legacy Beer.

The idea for the brewing project came from our engagement team, led by Danielle “Dani” McAnally, Director of Engagement. She hoped to create an activity that would bring residents together in a fun, welcoming space. Beer brewing turned out to be the perfect choice, and the group quickly found its own special way to connect.

Building Community Through Collaboration

“We started this beer brewing project thinking it would appeal to the men, but Lily and Susan showed up every time, and Guy joined them to see it through for six weeks,” said McAnally. “They used a Craft and Brew kit, followed all the instructions, and just bottled everything this week. These three put in the work, so they get to unveil Legacy Beer to everyone.”

This activity is a great example of how shared interests and curiosity can bring our residents together, regardless of who the activity is geared toward. It also shows how long-term projects give everyone something to look forward to and work toward as a team. This group’s delicious Legacy Beer is now available for everyone in our community to enjoy!
