On an average Wednesday at Castlewoods Place, the afternoon got a little sweeter when Girl Scout Troop #4381 brought a delicious twist to the community.
National Strawberry Parfait Day falls on June 25th — peak strawberry season! Residents at the senior living community in Brandon, MS, celebrate every day, and this was just another excuse to get together to have fun. The hands-on get-together offered an opportunity for children and seniors to connect over decadent layers of yogurt, fruit, and granola.

This event continues a growing connection that began when troop leader Hope W. brought the girls to the senior living community for a caroling visit last December. Since then, they’ve returned several times to engage residents with crafts and other activities.
“It’s fun coming back because we feel like we know them,” Hope told WAPT News. “When we see them, they’re like, we just love it when you come!”
“The last time we came, we made crafts, they told me they had their crafts still up in their room, so that’s really nice,” she added.
Intergenerational programming remains a favorite among those who call Castlewoods Place home.
“Hope Wood and the Girl Scouts have become very familiar faces around here,” said Jan Davis, Executive Director. “National Parfait Day gives everyone another reason to come together and enjoy each other’s company.”
