Coffee and eggs were on the menu at Pegasus Landing of Overland Park, where residents and officers from the Overland Park Police Department came together for the debut First Responders Breakfast.
The event brought local police to the table for coffee, casual conversation, and a chance to connect. Residents swapped stories with officers and asked questions about their work in the city.
Service dogs from K9’s For Freedom & Independence joined the group and made their rounds—calm, well-trained, and highly popular. The handlers shared insights about the dogs’ training while the pups soaked up the attention.
“There’s something about sharing a meal that makes it easier to get to know someone,” said Lindsey Grossman, Director of Engagement of Pegasus Landing of Overland Park. “We appreciate the officers taking time to be here, and the dogs were the perfect guests at the table.”
The First Responders Breakfast is scheduled for every other month. A special guest at the most recent event included Kathy Quinn from FOX 4 Kansas City, who spoke to officers, residents, and team leaders during the morning live show.
“This gathering is more than just a meal — it’s a meaningful way to build relationships, show appreciation, and bring people together,” said Amanda Mcnish, Memory Care Coordinator. “We look forward to making it a cherished tradition that our residents and the greater Overland Park community can enjoy for years to come.”
