Things got a little spicy at The Landing at Queensbury, when residents and staff came together to watch a wing challenge that brought more than just heat.

Inspired by the popular web series Hot Ones, team members Shae Scarselletta, Memory Care Director, and Heather Prindle, Life Enrichment Director, faced off in a hot sauce tasting contest. They tried sauces with names like “Mild and Mellow” and “Lord Have Mercy.”
The event, called Senior Saucin’, mixed hot wings with questions from residents. Some were serious, while others were intended to make the tasters laugh or lose focus.
Everyone had a good time watching the reactions as the wings got hotter. Residents ranked sauces, voted for their favorites, and debated whether blue cheese or ranch was better for cooling down.
“We didn’t expect hot sauce to get this much attention, but it sure did,” said Alisha Stosic, Executive Director of The Landing at Queensbury. “I don’t think I’ve ever seen that much milk disappear so fast. It was a fun way to try something different and bring people together.”
Photos from Senior Saucin’ made a great talking point on the evening news when it aired on WNYT. Plans are in motion for a second round, with new sauces and possibly a few resident taste-testers!
