What a year 2025 has been for Pegasus Senior Living. One of our proudest achievements this year has been the 2025 Brain Health Initiative, designed to empower residents and families. With a specific theme for each month, such as dining, games, and exercise, the initiative’s goal is to help individuals understand and care for their cognitive health.
This brain initiative for mental health and dementia management has a three-tiered approach that highlights dementia education and informed decision-making. Through valuable resources and programming, we’re empowering residents, families, and team members to support and maintain brain health.
Throughout 2025, our communities have offered workshops, brain health newsletters, and seminars. During our Launch Events, participants heard remarks from our Executive Directors, guest speakers, and Pegasus’s Senior VP of Health and Wellness, Dr. Sandra Petersen. Dr. Petersen shared practical tips on staying mentally sharp through healthy eating, regular physical activity, trying new experiences, and strengthening social connections.
Our brain initiative for mental health and dementia management also featured:
- Art therapy, drum circles, and memory games
- Light exercise and stretching sessions
- Smoothie tastings and chef demonstrations featuring brain-healthy recipes
- Therapy dog sessions
- Balance assessments
- Interactive games to boost brain health
- Guest speakers from partners like EmpowerMe
Pegasus Senior Living has also enhanced its memory care programming to create meaningful daily experiences for residents, with team members receiving specialized training in evidence-based approaches that reduce anxiety and confusion while promoting independence.
Our programming includes cognitive exercises tailored to individual abilities, music therapy that awakens memories, and sensory activities that stimulate engagement without overwhelming participants.

Highlighting Our Special Programs for Seniors
Throughout 2025, we also gained recognition for meaningful resident experiences and strong community partnerships.
- Our Houston-area senior communities geared up for friendly competition on June 20. The Pegasus Playoffs brought together Pegasus Landing of Tanglewood (Houston), The Legacy at Long Meadow (Richmond), and The Legacy at Falcon Point (Katy) for a day packed with games and good spirits.
- Pub Trivia is now connecting many of our communities throughout the U.S. online! Virtual games and fun brain teasers are stoking the competitive spirit among residents and team members alike.
- Heartfelt stories throughout the year — from a Queensbury wedding to a Mesa resident’s weekly movie tradition — reflect everyone’s commitment to connection.
- We honored veterans on Memorial Day, welcomed musical guests, and enjoyed equine therapy.
- Dr. Petersen shared expert insight about senior apartments for Care.com and 2025 flu season care for Parade readers.
- This December, Pegasus Senior Living is also turning screens into concert halls. Residents and team members from our communities will join the Pegasus-Wide Christmas Concert — an online celebration across all of our locations. That program kicks off with a guitar performance by Pegasus CEO, Chris Hollister, followed by sing-alongs and a surprise resident performances.
Created by Pegasus Senior Living in 2025, this senior initiative focuses on cognitive health through education, workshops, and interactive activities, including seminars, nutrition demonstrations, and memory games designed to support mental sharpness.
Pegasus Senior Living communities provide independent living, assisted living, and memory care services. Their memory care Connections program, developed by Dr. Sandi Petersen, Senior VP of Health and Wellness for Pegasus, uses evidence-based methods and the neuroplasticity process to support residents living with dementia.
Pegasus Senior Living has 44 communities nationwide in 13 states, including Texas, Washington, California, New York, Arizona, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Nevada, New Mexico, Colorado, Georgia, and Kansas.
Bringing It All Together at Year’s End
In conclusion, our 2025 senior initiatives and programs for seniors reflect a commitment to growth and quality care. We proudly prioritize cognitive health, meaningful programming, and resident participation across our communities.
