Seniors at Evergreen Place Support 6×6 Fundraiser

In a quaint corner of Brockport, a group of seniors at Evergreen Place embarked on a creative journey that promises to leave a lasting impact on the local art scene. Their mission: To contribute to the renowned Rochester Contemporary Art Center‘s (RoCo) annual 6×6 fundraiser.

What is the 6×6 Fundraiser?

The 6×6 fundraiser is not just any art event; it’s a celebration of creativity, community, and support for the arts. With every $20 purchase, patrons not only acquire a unique piece of artwork but also contribute to the future exhibitions and public art initiatives championed by RoCo. Every summer, the 6×6 exhibition features thousands of original artworks from diverse contributors.

What makes 6×6 truly special is its democratic approach to art. Each artist, regardless of background or training, is allowed to submit up to four artworks in any medium, be it 2D or 3D. The only requirement is that each piece measures six inches square and be signed only on the back, ensuring a showcase that puts the focus squarely on the art itself.

Creativity and Community Abound at Evergreen Place

For the seniors at Evergreen Place, this fundraiser represents more than just a chance to showcase their talents; it’s an opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to their community. Armed with paintbrushes, pencils, and a dash of imagination, they have poured their hearts into creating artworks that reflect their experiences, passions, and unique perspectives on the world.

“Our residents have such great ideas, and we are so proud of them for submitting their artwork to this exhibit,” shared Executive Director Julie Westcott.

As they put the finishing touches on their creations, the seniors at Evergreen Place were filled with anticipation. They knew that their artwork would not only be exhibited but also sold to art enthusiasts eager to support RoCo’s mission. And while their names may remain hidden until a purchase is made, the joy of seeing their pieces find new homes is a reward in itself.
